Pallavi Sanil is a sociology doctoral fellow based in India whose research is grounded in an intersectional framework, critically examining how overlapping structures of oppression—particularly those rooted in disability, caste, and gender—shape the everyday lives of marginalised individuals. Her scholarly inquiry is driven by a commitment to understanding how historical and contemporary configurations of power systematically disadvantage certain social groups, often rendering their experiences invisible within dominant academic and policy narratives. Focusing on the interrelated domains of education, mobility, and quality of life, Sanil explores how access to resources, opportunities, and social recognition is mediated by entrenched hierarchies and discriminatory norms. Her work engages deeply with the lived realities of individuals at the intersections of multiple marginalities, using qualitative methodologies to amplify their voices and experiences. Through this, she aims to contribute to a more inclusive and critical sociology that challenges normative assumptions and calls attention to the structural barriers that perpetuate inequality in Indian society.
